I have decided to follow the example of Wolfgang Baur and use a "patronage model" for this project. What that means is that those who are interested in the project can "buy in" at the beginning, giving them access to (and influence on) the design process at all stages. Now that a sufficient number of patrons have pledged their support to the project during our Kickstarter fund-raising drive (which ended on March 15, 2010), the project is moving forward.
Even though the development process has started, there is still time for new patrons to come on board or for existing patrons to increase their level of participation. By using one of the "Donate" buttons below, you can make a pledge or upgrade your existing pledge, making your donation via PayPal. Donations process instantaneously, and I should have your patron level recorded in the website's database within 24 hours (allowing you access to our Patron and Senior Patron forums).
Screen Name on Forums: Because most discussions and votes on development issues will be done on our forums at GMSarli Games, make sure you enter your screen name in the comment field when you send your donation. (If you don't, I will contact you directly to make sure your account gets patron or senior patron access, but this will delay the process.) If you don't have a screen name on our forums yet, you can create one here: Create a new screen name.
Limited Rewards: The $100 and $200 pledges are limited in number. The number of slots still available is listed under these pledges, and they are updated manually once a day. If you make a new pledge at the $100 or $200 level but the last slot is no longer available, your new pledge will be fully refunded within 24 hours. UPDATE: All $200 pledges are sold out.
If you have not yet made a pledge to the e20 System Project, you can do so by clicking on one of the "Donate" buttons in the following section. Your donation is processed via PayPal, and I will manually add you to our list of patrons within 24 hours. The specific rewards of each patronage level are described below.
You receive access to our patron-only forums at GMSarli Games, allowing you to contribute to discussions about the project and influence its development. You will see exclusive previews, design essays, and playtest materials that are unavailable to non-patrons. (If you participate in playtesting, you will receive a "Playtesting" credit in the book.) Finally, you will receive a PDF of the final manuscript and print-on-demand access before the book is available to the public.
As the $20 pledge, but you also receive a hardcover copy of the final book. This is a $39.95 value for a pledge of only $30 more than the previous patronage level, a full 25% off the cover price.
LIMITED REWARD: 23 of 70 remaining
As the $50 pledge, but your hardcover copy of the book is autographed by the lead designer. You also have access to the "Senior Patrons" forums, allowing the opportunity to contribute to the rules development at virtually every stage of the process. In addition, you can propose, design, and submit game material (subject to available space and the approval of other senior patrons). If accepted, you are paid at the same rate as our other freelancers, and given an "Additional Design" credit in the book; furthermore, all senior patrons who contribute design work will automatically be considered for available freelance work on future game supplements.
If you have already made a pledge to the e20 System Project (most likely by contributing during the Kickstarter fund-raising drive, which ended on March 15, 2010), you can upgrade your level of patronage by using one of the "Donate" buttons from the sections below.
Important: Make sure you go to the section corresponding to your current pledge level, then -- from within that section -- choose a "Donate" button corresponding to the patron level you want to ugrade to. If you accidentally use the wrong "Donate" button, it can delay the implementation of your new patronage level.
